Textile Cuff Bracelets XI - Forest Floor
This pair has beads embroidery on top of the felt. I learned that I can use some of bead weaving techniques when doing bead embroidery. That's how I did the leaves.
This pair started with a large golden orange section between the green and the wine bands. I didn't like the way the composition flowed and all that extra gold, so I covered it up with more green and burgundy fibers. Now all that shows is a subtle glow of the gold underneath. I like the effect. I learned that its easier to have two basic colors when using this technique, rather than three. I also learned that you can do some cool color effects with layered fiber, optically blending colors.

Old Lace and a Petticoat
A close friend's mother passed away last fall, and the family was gracious enough to give me some of her lace. I received two lace bedspreads and a petticoat that the woman wore under her wedding dress.
Both bedspreads are completely hand crocheted. Both also have a single set of motifs that is repeated across and down the full length of the piece. Oh the hours it must have taken to do all of those little stitches! I told the family that if I were to receive them, I'd likely cut them up to make clothing, and that if they wanted them to remain intact, they should give them to somebody else. They gave them to me anyways. Now, I have to figure out how to turn them into some clothing. Each bed spread has enough fabric for two dresses, at least.
The petticoat is floor length with four layers of fabric, and it stands up all by itself! There's yards and yards of tuille fabric in this piece. The outside layer has some hand folded satin flowers and other satin ribbon embellishment on the front. Each tier is finished with more satin ribbon. The wasteband is a little worn, so I'll need to redo that part, but otherwise, I think this is an amazing piece. Somebody put a lot of time into sewing all of those seams!

Pink Felt Cuffs
I made another pair of felt cuffs in pink and cream. They remind me of cotton candy or bubble gum, but my BF insists they look like Jupiter. I found a happy accident, which is that the pair of cuffs can be snapped together to be worn as a collar to keep your neck warm instead. See my Etsy for more information and photos.

Beaded Beads and Earrings
I listed a few new pieces in my Etsy shop, three beaded beads and two pairs of earrings.
Time Machine beaded beads, Sierpinski Tetrahedron Earring, a Pentagonal Prism beaded bead, and Rosebud Earrings. We could all use a little more bling in our lives, no?
