Food grade hand scrub

When working with fibers or fine fabrics, it's important to have soft, callous-free hands.  You can make a hand scrub with simple ingredients that are probably already in your kitchen.  Pour a spoonful of granular sugar in your hand, add a dollup of cooking oil (olive is nice) and rub your hands together.  Scrub, scrub scrub, and then finish by washing thoroughly with soap and water.  Done. I've tried this several times now, and I love the results.

I learned this trick from the book "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer.   Thanks Claire!
